Day 1: Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Ouarzazate - Dades Gorges
Our guide or driver will meet you either at the airport or at your accommodation to start your 4 day tour ending in Tanger. Leaving the city, we drive in the direction of the distant mountains. The High Atlas is snow covered for at least half of the year, we will pass through small Berber villages and wind our way up to reach the high pass of Tizi n´Tichka at 2260 metres altitude. Descending on the far side, we will make a detour off the road to visit the Ksar of Ait Benhaddou. You may recognise this fortress location from the movie The Gladiator as it was filmed there along with dozens of other movies. After a lunch break, we continue to reach the Hollywood of Africa; Ouarzazate. Several cinema studios are located here and you can see sets from movies like Cleopatra as you pass by. The palm groves of Skoura lie on the outskirts and after that the landscapes open out. The Roses Capital of Kelaat M´gouna is home to the roses that are harvested for their precious oils and leads you into the Dades Valley which is full of hidden kasbahs. At the town of Boumalne Dades, we take a detour up into the gorge which has some very unusual rock formations. Here, in the gorge, you will spend the night in a local guesthouse with dinner and breakfast.
Day 2: Dades Gorges - Todra Gorges - Merzouga Camel Trekking and Night in the Desert
After breakfast, we depart and discover more of this amazing gorge. Back down to the road and we continue to Tinghir, here we detour again, this time up into the hidden Todra Gorge; a 300 metre high split in the mountains formed by the river. A beautiful place to soak up the fresh air. We return to the valley below and continue or journey turning southwards. You will start to see more palm groves and small adobe villages, you will pass through some towns too with important workshops where fossils are processed. Eventually you will see the dunes on the horizon; you have arrived in the Sahara. In the small desert town of Merzouga, your camel team will be ready to take you off across the dunes to your camp. Once packed up, you will ride off into the sunset and live that dream. Dinner will be served and then music around the campfire under the blanket of stars; the stuff memories are made of.

There will be an opportunity to visit one of the fossil workshops and perhaps see some dinosaur bones and beautiful minerals found locally. Following the Ziz Valley, you will see an extensive gorge below you filled with palms and hidden villages and Kasbahs. In the town of Midelt, there will be a lunch break and time to stretch your legs. In the afternoon, the landscapes change from open plateaus with nomadic tribes living in tents, to great rivers and mountains. You will then reach the huge cedar tree forest of Azrou; home to Barbary Monkeys which you will see in the trees. Next, a touch of Switzerland in the town of Ifrane, with its alpine style buildings; you will feel like you are in another country. Leaving behind forests and lakes, rivers and mountains, you will reach the ancient medina of Fes where you will spend the night.
